MOVERS & SHAKERS

Exercise and physical activity can improve many Parkinson's symptoms. These benefits are supported by research so we have established the MOVERS & SHAKERS program so that those who are physically able can raise funds towards supporting Parkinson's ZA in their ongoing efforts to create awareness and bring the multidisciplinary workshop to Parkinson's communities across South Africa.

PLEASE FOLLOW THE STEPS BELOW TO BECOME A MOVER & SHAKER, OR...

STEP 2: GET SUPPORT

We will send you a link once your profile has been set up. Please send out via Email, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook etc to let your circle know what you'll be doing. It's a good idea to share your profile a few times in the run up to your event, you can let people know how the fundraising is going and remind them of why it's important to you. Here's a template letter that you can use if you'd like to:

I have been recruited as a Mover & Shaker and will be running the (e.g.) Comrades Marathon to raise funds for Parkinson’s ZA, a non-profit and public benefit organisation aimed at improving the quality of life for people impacted by Parkinson's Disease.

Parkinson's Disease is the world’s fastest-growing neurological disease and its prevalence in South Africa is increasing at a prolific rate. The most important research in recent years has pointed to the fact that only aerobic and cardiovascular exercise can attenuate the progression of the disease, hence the central message of Parkinson’s ZA for People with Parkinson's Disease to GET ACTIVE

Many of us have a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle or friend who have been impacted by Parkinson's Disease. Parkinson’s ZA is focused on building a community in South Africa by expanding awareness and advocacy on Parkinsons’ Disease. To date, Parkinson’s ZA has delivered 20 multidisciplinary workshops ‘free of charge’ to the Parkinsons’ community in Durban KZN. The program encompasses physiotherapy, occupational therapy and lifestyle management.

All funds raised will go towards supporting Parkinson's ZA in their ongoing efforts to create awareness and bring the multidisciplinary workshop to Parkinson's communities across South Africa.

Please support my drive to raise funds AND join me and become a Mover & Shaker.
