A Multidisciplinary Program
We have partnered with the Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorder Society (PDMDS) to launch the first Parkinson's Disease Support Group in South Africa based on the Multidisciplinary 'Model of Care' established by PDMDS in 2001.
Founded in 2001, PDMDS has opened over 60 community-based Parkinson’s support centres in India.
The PDMDS model is internationally recognized as an effective model of care for People with Parkinson ’s in developing countries.
The educational and rehabilitative services, are based on established theories and fields, further researched, published and delivered by trained professionals, thus allowing:
-
Content to be standardized and scientific ensuring rehabilitation efficiency
-
Evidence-based care to be replicated in a variety of communities including those in low-resource settings
