Hi. I’m Shreeya Mahadeo
I am a SA National Chess Champion, SA Schools Chess Champion and KZN, Ethekwini and Umlazi District Chess player - who wants to create Awareness for Parkinson’s Disease.
I have volunteered to be a Mover & Shaker to raise funds for Parkinson’s ZA, a non-profit public benefit organization, aimed at improving the overall quality of life for people impacted by Parkinson’s Disease.
I became a person impacted by Parkinsons Disease in 2013 when my granddad, was first diagnosed at the age of 54 years.
I have decided to qualify for and win as many National and KZN Chess tournaments in 2024 as I can for Parkinson's Awareness. I want to dedicate all my tournaments and fundraising to Parkinson's ZA and my granddad.
Please support me to raise funds for Parkinson’s ZA, a non-profit public benefit organization, aimed at improving the overall quality of life for People impacted by Parkinson’s Disease.
Parkinson’s disease is the fastest growing neurodegenerative disease in the world with an estimated 10 million people living with the disease. Sadly in South Africa and Africa at large, many go undiagnosed and without treatment.
Parkinsons ZA has established the first community based rehabilitation workshop in Durban incorporating physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and lifestyle management. The program is run every week and is available free of charge to the entire community of Durban.
All funds raised will go towards supporting Parkinsons ZA in their ongoing efforts to make People with Parkinson’s thrive.
Please support my drive to raise funds!
